Overview

The role leads UN-Habitat’s presence in the Homs Hub, serving as the primary focal point for representation, coordination, and partnerships. It oversees hub operations and staff management to ensure effective program delivery and provides strategic oversight of project implementation.

Tasks Summary
  • Represent UN-Habitat in the Homs Hub, covering Homs and Hama Governorates and the Coastal Region.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with local authorities, UN agencies, local communities, civil society, NGOs, academia, and private sector actors.
  • Manage hub staff, including oversight of administrative, personnel, procurement, and financial matters.
  • Oversee project activities implemented within the hub's area of coverage.
  • Collaborate with the Urban Advisory Unit to collect data and conduct field assessments for new interventions.
  • Lead the coordination of Housing, Land and Property (HLP) related works.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in urban recovery-related project/programme management.
  • Experience in coordination with authorities and local communities for urban recovery.
  • Desired: Experience working on projects related to housing, HLP, damage assessments, urban data, participatory planning and/or community engagement.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, urban planning, social science, project management, business administration or any other field relevant to UN-Habitat programmes.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 12 months

Work Modality: Ad-hoc travel across the Hubs’ Governorates is expected; as well as to Damascus and other Hubs as needed.
