Cloud & Cyber Security Innovation Intern

Overview

This internship supports the NATO Cyber Innovation Team by developing secure software solutions and cloud-native environments. The role involves prototyping technical solutions, building infrastructure, and contributing to cyber innovation efforts.

Tasks Summary

• Designing secure applications
• Configuring cloud environments
• Using AI-based tools to accelerate coding, troubleshoot configurations, and create documentation or demos
• Applies and maintains specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments
• Communicates security risks and issues to business managers and others
• Performs basic risk assessments for small information systems
• Contributes to the identification of risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures
• Suggests alternate solutions or countermeasures to mitigate risks
• Defines secure systems configurations in compliance with intended architectures
• Supports investigation of suspected attacks and security breaches
• Monitors operational systems for resource usage and failure rates, to inform and facilitate system software tuning
• Applies system software parameters to maximise throughput and efficiency
• Installs and tests new versions of system software
• Contributes to preparation of software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans
• Produces software builds from software source code
• Conducts tests as defined in an integration test specification and records the details of any failures
• Analyses and reports on integration test activities and results
• Identifies and reports issues and risks

Experience Requirements

• Information security: Applies and maintains specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments. • System software: Monitors operational systems for resource usage and failure rates, to inform and facilitate system software tuning. Applies system software parameters to maximise throughput and efficiency. Installs and tests new versions of system software. Contributes to preparation of software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans.
• Systems integration and build: Produces software builds from software source code. Conducts tests as defined in an integration test specification and records the details of any failures. Analyses and reports on integration test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks.

Qualification Requirements

• Currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months

Other Details

Languages Required: • A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential

Languages Preferred: • Some knowledge of the other NATO language is desirable

Contract Duration: • 6 months

Remuneration: • 1,477.30 Euro (EUR) Monthly • Reasonable travel expenses to start on day 1 and to return to your home location once the internship is complete.
