Database Services Intern (PaaS Service Area)

Overview

Internship supporting the Database Services Service Management Team in monitoring database systems, ensuring optimal performance and high availability. Responsibilities include installation, reconfiguration, and supporting upgrade strategies for databases.

Tasks Summary

• Monitor performance of assigned database systems.
• Implement measures to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
• Install and reconfigure databases and related products in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Support upgrade strategies.
• Select infrastructure configurations aligned with business architectures.
• Help develop automation tools for routine administration tasks.
• Contribute to software lifecycle management.
• Monitor performance statistics.
• Prepare reports.
• Support 24/7 operations, maintenance, and system administration of database platform services.

Experience Requirements

• Database administration: Assists in database support activities.
• Database design: Interprets installation standards to meet project needs and produces database or data warehouse component specifications. Develops appropriate physical database or data warehouse design elements, within set policies, to meet data requirements.
• Incident management: Follows agreed procedures to identify, register and categorise incidents. Gathers information to enable incident resolution and allocates incidents as appropriate.

Qualification Requirements

• Currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months.

Other Details

Languages Required: A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential.

Languages Preferred: Some knowledge of the other NATO language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months
