Geospatial Data Science Intern

Overview

The Geospatial Data Science Intern will support the Data Science and AI team on projects involving space-based imagery and geospatial datasets. This role provides hands-on experience in geospatial analytics, model development, and data processing.

Tasks Summary

• Explore geospatial analytics tools
• Label datasets
• Design workflows to enhance AI models
• Conduct detailed analyses using GIS platforms, Python frameworks, and cloud computing tools
• Present findings through reports and visualizations
• Stay informed about advancements in geospatial science and AI
• Follow security best practices when handling sensitive data

Experience Requirements

• Data science: Under guidance, applies given data science techniques to data. Analyses and reports findings and remediates simple issues, using algorithms implemented in standard software frameworks and tools.
• Data visualisation: Uses a visualisation product, as guided, to design and create data visuals. Selects appropriate visualisation techniques from the options available. Engages with the target user to prototype and refine specified visualisations.
• Machine learning: Applies given machine learning techniques to data, under the guidance of technical leadership. Analyses and reports findings and remediates simple issues using algorithms implemented in standard software frameworks and tools.

Qualification Requirements

• Currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months

Other Details

Languages Required: A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential.

Languages Preferred: Some knowledge of the other NATO language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Remuneration: • 1,477.30 Euro (EUR) Monthly • Reasonable travel expenses to start on day 1 and to return to your home location once the internship is complete.
