Overview

Provide technical support to projects promoting agrobiodiversity and nature-based solutions for agrifood systems transformation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Tasks Summary
  • Build scientific and technical capacity on agrobiodiversity, sustainable crop production, landscape management, nature-based solutions, and low-carbon agrifood systems.
  • Work with project teams for activity execution according to work plans.
  • Provide technical advice on sustainable food production practices and agri-food value chains.
  • Provide technical advice on conservation and restoration of agroecosystems and biodiversity.
  • Provide technical advice on dynamic conservation and sustainable utilization of agrobiodiversity.
  • Provide technical advice on knowledge management and M&E.
  • Participate in project related workshops, consultations, and meetings.
  • Participate in supervisory inspection missions.
  • Formulate GEF9 projects related to food systems integrated programmes.
  • Perform any other related tasks as may be required.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum two years of research experience on plants and environment, ideally in China and/or Indonesia.
  • Relevant experience in working with a wide range of partners, including governments and research institutions.
  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
  • Relevance and extent of research experience on plants and environment, such as soil and water; designing, collecting, and analyzing technical information and data; preparing, editing, and revising technical/scientific documents, and publication; organizing international meetings and workshops.
  • Relevance and extent of experience in working with governments, research institutions, and multidisciplinary teams.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in agrifood systems, environmental sciences or related field.
  • Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.

Languages Required: • Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and Chinese.
