Overview

The role involves working with international trade in services statistics, focusing on data treatment and analysis within the European Commission's Directorate-General ESTAT.

Tasks Summary
  • Annual data validation: validate and prepare for publication the data of EU Member States, EFTA and candidate countries;
  • monitor the quality of the data provided according to agreed standards;
  • contribute to the ITSS quality reports, update the online statistical articles on ITSS, contribute to other reports relevant to ITSS;
  • contribute to the provision of replies to user requests and
  • contribute to the ITSS working group meeting with the member states. Depending on the successful candidate ´s interests the candidate may also contribute to other projects in the team, such as the ITSS Asymmetry Resolution Mechanism, methodological developments or process improvements.
Experience Requirements

Knowledgeable in the field of statistics/economics - especially business statistics and data analysis would be an asset. Further, knowledge about databases or programming (e.g. MDT, SQL, SAS, R, Python or similar) and general experience in IT would be an advantage.

Qualification Requirements
  • a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or
  • a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.
Other Details

Languages Required: • have a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU • AND a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: The duration of the 1st contract will be of 1 to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.

Work Modality:

Remuneration: The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
