ICT Engineer

Overview

The ICT Engineer is a senior technical expert responsible for managing and organizing all ICT systems and services in the assigned location, including designing and installing ICT information systems.

Tasks Summary

• Independently carries out large computer and telecommunications infrastructure projects.
• Designs, implements, and maintains ICT infrastructure, systems, and telecommunications.
• Accompanies ICT team to install, maintain, and adapt existing large-scale infrastructure.
• Provides technical support and training on ICT-related matters.
• Documents existing infrastructure and processes.
• Monitors ICT installations and takes appropriate measures to ensure proper functioning.
• Tests ICT equipment, hardware, software networks, and other devices.
• Identifies knowledge gaps and links with Field ICT training opportunities.
• Works on priorities, consults or escalates to FPIM team, and delegates tickets.
• Participates in pilot deployments of technology evolution and projects.
• Supports the development, testing, and implementation of disaster recovery plans.
• Provides advanced technical support and resolves critical incidents.
• Mentors and trains ICT Specialists.
• Monitors, maintains, and documents ICT resources, plans for upgrades, and supports procurement.
• Leads the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient ICT systems.
• Provides advanced ICT support for field staff and operations.
• Implements robust security measures, conducts risk assessments, and responds to threats.
• Provides technical advice, assesses ICT needs, and proposes innovative solutions.
• Fosters cross-department collaboration and contributes to global ICT knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Promotes energy-efficient ICT practices and implements e-waste management.
• Explores and evaluates emerging ICT technologies.
• Develops dashboards, provides technical reports, and contributes to performance analytics.
• Provides regular reports to ICT Coordinator about technical performance, challenges, and achievements.
• Provides reports on missions and communicates them with relevant stakeholders.
• Ensures up-to-date technical documentation on ICT installation and procedures.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as ICT Engineer
• 4–5 years troubleshooting experience in an area of the ICT service catalogue (e.g. workplace services, telecommunications, IT, help desk, etc.).
• Second- and third-level user support
• Knowledge of ICT technical layer: Networking Infrastructure (LAN/WLAN, WAN); Communication Systems (Satellite, VSAT, Radio); Server and Technical Layer; Communication Protocols (SIP), Workplace Management
• Understanding ICT Administrative layer: Documentations, Inventory Management, etc.
• Ability to work in a team and organize ICT team functions.
• Proven ability to train others according to ICRC ICT procedures and standards.
• Knowledge about the financial, supply chain process and other usual ICT processes are a plus.
• Understanding specific thematic (cybersecurity, transformative initiatives, information management, data analytics, business intelligence tools) is a plus.

Qualification Requirements

• Post-graduate degree in telecommunications, electronics, computer science or related field.
• ICT management certification (ITIL).
• Certification in project management an asset.
• Microsoft certification (MCSA level).
