Overview

The Security & Crisis Management Research & Development Associate supports data analytics, research, and the transition to new security management applications, while also engaging with Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement partners on security-related matters.

Tasks Summary
  • Compile, prepare, validate, and visualize security and safety incident data, as well as minimum security requirements data.
  • Produce ad hoc analyses and incident-related reports.
  • Support human and technical change management processes for new security management tools.
  • Contribute to the planning, coordination, and implementation of change initiatives.
  • Provide support, engagement, and accompaniment to RCRC Movement partners on tools, research, operational security, and guidance in emergencies.
  • Support platforms for managing security across the ICRC.
  • Feed, maintain, and enhance security management platforms.
  • Generate narrative analyses of data, including assessments of trends, highlights, areas of concern, and significant developments.
  • Ensure dashboards are user-friendly and present relevant information coherently and interactively.
  • Liaise with SCMS counterparts, other relevant departments, and RCRC Movement Partners.
  • Explore opportunities to research and develop the broader value of security data.
Experience Requirements
  • Up to two years of relevant professional experience (including internships or volunteer work).
  • Maximum of one year in a full-time paid position after completion of studies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the ICRC, its mandate, and the broader Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, including advanced use of MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik).
Qualification Requirements

Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in related social and/or technical sciences.

Other Details

Languages Required: Working proficiency in French and English.

Languages Preferred: Additional command of Arabic, Russian, or Spanish is an asset.

Contract Duration: 12 months

Remuneration: Gross monthly salary: CHF 3’934 (paid in 13 installments)
