Head of Pharmacist

Overview

The Head Pharmacist sets and implements the ICRC’s pharmaceutical strategy and acts as the legal representative for pharmaceutical services with Swiss authorities.

Tasks Summary

• Ensure compliance with EU/WHO GDPs at headquarters and in the field.
• Propose policies on health-care goods quality.
• Plan audits of suppliers and manage external auditors.
• Approve donations of medical supplies and domestic purchases.
• Approve and ensure implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support and advise operations staff on pharmaceutical issues.
• Monitor the regulatory environment and pharmaceutical market evolutions.
• Develop a network of contacts in the pharmaceutical field.
• Outline, develop, and approve partnerships related to pharmaceutical activities.
• Supervise ICRC pharmacists and specialists, and monitor training needs.
• Mitigate risks through assigned controls.

Experience Requirements

• Typically 15+ years' professional experience.
• Minimum six years' confirmed experience as a pharmacist and if possible legal representative of pharmaceutical services in an international pharmaceutical company.
• Experience as a hospital pharmacist an asset.
• Experience working in a humanitarian organization an asset.
• Experience understanding complex conflicts and their implications for health systems.
• Management experience.

Qualification Requirements

• Pharmacy degree (PhD level).
• Masters pharmaceutical laws and regulations.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Excellent command of French and English. • Fluent in English and French (spoken & written).

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of Spanish, Arabic, or another ICRC language is an asset.
