Overview

The Generalist Field Officer contributes to the identification, implementation and monitoring of ICRC projects in various fields of activities within the assigned area of responsibility, involving frequent travel. This role supports the representation of the ICRC at the local level, monitors the general situation, engages in networking, and conducts field trips.

Tasks Summary
  • Supports the Delegate in developing and maintaining a network of key interlocutors.
  • Represents and promotes the ICRC regarding its activities.
  • Informs and advises the Delegate on the general situation and assists in obtaining security guarantees.
  • Monitors the security environment and keeps the team informed on security incidents.
  • Contributes to the analysis of the humanitarian situation and security environment.
  • Documents allegations of IHL violations and humanitarian consequences on the civilian population.
  • Records PCP and PFL cases and ensures respective follow-ups.
  • Ensures Prot6 data management for all Prot activities.
  • Contributes to the socio-political and cultural analysis of contexts.
  • Guarantees follow-up of vulnerable cases identified and supported by the ICRC.
  • Ensures good working relations with the ERCS.
  • Provides support to EcoSec, Health and Wathab activities.
  • Contributes/leads Communication and Prevention activities.
  • Interprets and translates for the Delegate and/or other colleagues as required.
  • Collects and shares information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in similar fields
  • Minimum of two years program/project experience with national/international organizations or other humanitarian agencies or in the private sector
Qualification Requirements

• University degree in Social Science or similar

Languages Required: • Excellent command of spoken and written English • Excellent command of spoken and written Oromifa • Excellent command of spoken and written Amharic

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of other operational areas a strong asset

Contract Duration: 1 year fixed term contract, subject to extension based on performance and budget availability
