Overview

This internship provides support to the Deputy Director of the United Nations Environment Programme's Ecosystems Division, focusing on meeting preparation, documentation, and coordination of special projects.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide support to the Deputy Director, including meeting preparation, and documentation.
  • Assist in organizing internal meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Support special projects and priority initiatives led by the Deputy Director through coordination, research, and follow-up.
  • Undertake targeted research and analysis, including internal reports and data, to inform knowledge management and process improvements.
  • Assist in preparing internal communications, briefing notes, and presentation materials, as needed.
  • Liaise with division teams to gather inputs and support coordination on key activities.
  • Undertake other tasks as required, in line with the intern’s interests and experience.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Demonstrated interest and experience in issues related to programme coordination, project management, or support to environmental and conservation initiative. Experience in organizing meetings, or conferences, including managing stakeholder coordination is highly desirable.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent); or c. Have graduated with a university degree. Applicants must be pursuing qualifications in an area of study that can significantly contribute to the responsibilities outlined and overall work of the Ecosystems Division Directors Office, including: Background in programme management, business administration, development studies, or other related field. Proficiency in computer software applications (E.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Proficiency in communication is required.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
