Overview
Support UNHCR's engagement and cooperation with development agencies to assist local communities and persons of concern, leveraging development partnerships to influence policy dialogue for improved protection environments, socio-economic inclusion, and self-reliance.
Tasks Summary
- - Assist management in conducting research and analysis on long-term trends to enhance opportunities for solutions, resilience, and inclusion.
- - Support planning for resilience and inclusion by leveraging development partners' roles, resources, and capacities.
- - Facilitate the development of multi-year protection and solutions plans and inclusion of populations of concern into national and local development planning.
- - Assist in identifying and capitalizing on development and resilience opportunities.
- - Facilitate relationship building with development co-operation agencies.
- - Support the development of partnerships and networks with development cooperation actors to influence policy dialogue.
- - Participate in cooperation with development partners to assist them in incorporating concerns of refugees into project design and implementation.
- - Contribute to studies and analytical activities for development-oriented responses to forced displacement.
- - Support operations by providing relevant data to development actors.
- - Support engagement with governments, development partners, private sector, and civil society to identify opportunities for UNHCR to contribute to monitoring systems.
- - Support coordination and knowledge sharing between UNHCR and development actors globally.
- - Support training activities for capacity building of UNHCR and partner agency staff.
Experience Requirements
- Three (3) years of direct work experience in a large international development institution in a relevant position.
- At least one (1) year in field operations.
- Preferably with knowledge of, or experience in, local or area based economic development, direct engagement in a technical sector such as education, WASH, social protection, health, energy.
- Practical experience working with and an understanding of the different aspects of economic growth, governance, fragility and conflict.
- Expertise related to the governance of specific multilateral development banks or bilateral development actors most relevant to the AoR.
- Experience with forced displacement (desirable).
- Experience in primary data collection, quantitative research methods and results-based management (desirable).
Qualification Requirements
- Undergraduate degree; or Graduate degree; or Doctorate degree.
- Field(s) of Education: Development Economics; Development Studies; Socio-economic Development; International Relations; Political Science; Law or other relevant field.
