Overview
The Communication Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all communication and visibility activities for Save the Children projects, ensuring strategic alignment with donor requirements, organizational branding, and advocacy goals.
Tasks Summary
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all communication and visibility activities.
- Manage content creation, case studies, media engagement, social media content, and production of communication materials.
- Provide communications support to all field offices.
- Develop and implement area communications plans.
- Proactively propose ideas and initiatives to strengthen visibility, presence, and impact.
- Monitor and analyze communication trends.
- Work closely with partner organizations to establish systems for consistent messaging and enhanced visibility.
- Provide regular updates on context developments and programmatic activities.
- Support the Media Team in coordinating and maintaining relationships with local journalists and media outlets.
- Support media engagement by identifying human interest stories, drafting press materials, and coordinating media visits.
- Support teams in meeting donor compliance requirements and addressing communications related needs.
- Support teams with the design of communications/visibility materials.
- Collaborate with Advocacy and Programs teams to design and implement special communications projects and public events.
- Ensure all communications products adhere to quality standards, brand guidelines, and Child Safeguarding policies.
- Maintain a well-organized content library.
- Collect and produce content, including stories, photos, videos, and case studies.
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice.
- Produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to emergency response.
- Oversee and act as a focal point for all visit requests to humanitarian sites.
- Ensure all information for external use presents accurate information and appropriate images.
- Available for travel to the field sites to collect case studies and undertake photography/videography commissions.
- Collaborate with Advocacy colleagues to ensure core messaging is consistent.
- Manage the production of compelling photo stories, case studies and audio-visual materials from the field.
- Determine how to use various materials through different communications channels.
- Evaluate results and impact of media and communications activities.
- Ensures adherence to policy and procedure and that the rights of families and children are respected.
- Develop and disseminate communication products such as invitations, podcasts, and blogs.
- Build the capacity of partners, field staff and interns in story gathering, photography, media training and information management.
- Undertake multi-media commissions and produce content to accompany compelling case studies.
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience of developing and managing the production of communications materials for INGOs or other similar organizations in emergencies and in humanitarian crises for a minimum of 2-4 years.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in communications, multimedia, journalism, media or external communications, work in an INGO or media setting.
- Experience producing high-quality written and visual content (e.g., stories, photo captions, short videos, case studies) under tight deadlines.
- Experience in leading information and communication flows between emergency responses and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven photo and video editing skills (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, InDesign/Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Davinci Resolve, etc.
- Prior experience working in humanitarian contexts (Desirable).
Qualification Requirements
• University degree or equivalent experience in journalism, media, communications or a similar discipline.
