Overview
Coordinate and assist the implementation of the Funds-in-Trust Science Programme on Global Challenges in Asia and the Pacific Region funded by the Government of Japan (JFIT/Science).
Tasks Summary
- Coordinate with different units in UNESCO Jakarta, headquarters and other field offices for project implementation.
- Assist Programme Specialists in implementing JFIT/Science programmes through desk research, stakeholder communication, administrative and financial processes, and meeting arrangements.
- Maintain contact with donor institutions in the Government of Japan and provide reports.
- Liaise with government counterparts, National Commissions for UNESCO, and partners in Japan and Asia/Pacific.
- Work with Natural Science units in planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of JFIT/Science projects.
- Monitor implementation rates and communicate with project officers, facilitating discussions with the donor for approvals.
- Assist in exploring new project possibilities and developing concept notes and project documents.
- Assist in organizing national, regional, and global events relevant to UNESCO Natural Science Programmes supported by JFIT/Science.
- Promote JFIT/Science visibility through website contributions, social media, brochures, and annual reports.
- Coordinate the organization of JFIT Annual Review Meeting(s) and follow-ups, including report development and action point tracking.
- Submit monthly progress reports and a final report with minutes, meeting documents, and communication materials.
Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional experience in implementing sustainable development projects and/or natural resource management.
- Preferably within the context of a UN organization.
- Proven experience in proposal writing, reporting, and fundraising.
Qualification Requirements
• A Master's or PhD degree preferably in natural science or social science related to ecology, sustainable development and/or natural resource management.
