Overview
The IT Associate provides reliable and timely IT services on the application and infrastructure of UNHCR standard IT services in the Area of Responsibility (AoR). The role supports operational teams in achieving high-quality outcomes and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Tasks Summary
- - Assist in on-site needs assessment and installation and maintenance of UNHCR Telecommunications and IT equipment.
- - Establish IT requirements in field operations.
- - Install and configure UNHCR IT and Telecommunications systems.
- - Ensure equipment is in good working condition and arrange repairs or replacement.
- - Maintain records of installations and repairs.
- - Provide information for asset management records.
- - Monitor and maintain LAN, Network Servers, Printers, etc.
- - Add or remove users from the Network.
- - Assist in maintaining records of users and usage of the Network.
- - Carry out minor hardware maintenance.
- - Provide Technical Briefing/Training on equipment.
- - Assist in the development and configuration of IT and Telecom Equipment/Kits.
- - Decide on appropriate resolution to incidents/problems.
- - Escalate issues to supervisor if unresolved.
- - Support identification and management of risks.
- - Perform other related duties as required.
- - Serve as the first point of contact for end-users seeking IT assistance.
- - Diagnose and resolve basic hardware, software, and network issues.
- - Guide users through troubleshooting steps.
- - Support common business applications.
- - Assist with software installations, updates, and configuration changes.
- - Coordinate with UNHCR IT managed service providers.
- - Maintain processes mapped for subject matter areas.
- - Maintain databases, logs, analyse and visualize data, produce reports.
- - Liaise and communicate with customers for planning and budgetary data.
- - Perform system transactions using specialized tools.
- - Provide managerial and statistical reports.
- - Assist supervisor by tracking and reporting on key performance indicators.
- - Implement best practices and track remediation progress.
- - Contribute to development, structuring, and maintenance of process documentation, SOPs.
- - Support training and onboarding.
Experience Requirements
- For G6 - 3 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Experience relevant to the function or particularly on HF/VHF radio or IT systems, PAMA satellite systems, PABX, Cisco routers and satellite modems.
- Hands-on experience with wireless and VoIP systems, electricity, generators, lightning protection an asset.
- Previous experience in Emergencies is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
Information Technology certificates and/or licenses.
