Overview

Support substantive work on urban renewal strategies for decaying or underused consolidated areas in Latin America and the Caribbean, applying a circular economy approach. The intern will assist in drafting research documents, compiling data, and conducting literature reviews.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the drafting of research documents on housing and urban planning policies.
  • Compile and synthesize data on the urban context of Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Conduct literature reviews on circular economy concepts applied to cities.
  • Collaborate with the team in refining the research framework.
  • Researches, compiles, systematically organizes and analyses information and reference materials.
  • Proofreads documents, translates (Spanish/English/ Portuguese).
  • Edits texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style.
  • Prepares a variety of inputs for reports, publications and presentations.
  • Prepares, adapts and reviews web content and uploads information to the unit's platforms.
  • Format documents in line with organization standards.
  • Compiles statistical data for reporting on sustainable urban development.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants should have the skills to process surveys in statistical software.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of Portuguese and English is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 3 - 6 months

Work Modality: Remote Full-Time

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
