Overview
The VAM Officer will contribute to the VAM evidence base supporting WFP's food security policies and programmes in South Sudan, focusing on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Tasks Summary
- Provide technical advice on food security and nutrition strategies, policies, and programmes.
- Contribute to the development of systems and tools for monitoring and assessing food assistance needs.
- Conduct food security, nutrition, markets, and resilience analysis.
- Contribute to the development of programme activities.
- Keep up to date with and advise on food assistance developments.
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of WFP activities.
- Provide coaching and guidance to VAM staff.
- Strengthen capacity of WFP staff, partners, and national government to conduct analysis.
- Provide support to relevant partners focusing on food security and nutrition.
Experience Requirements
- At least 5 years (for master’s degree holder) and at least 7 years (for bachelor’s degree holder) of experience in food security or vulnerability analysis, especially using statistical analysis and quantitative methods.
- Experience working with UN agencies, NGOs, international organizations or government structures; and supporting an emergency operation are added benefits.
- Familiarity with advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques are advantages.
Qualification Requirements
Advanced University degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography or related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
