Overview
The Communications Analyst supports UNFPA's mandate and Country Programme priorities by leading and coordinating communications and advocacy activities for a joint project through strategic external communication, advocacy, and programme communication.
Tasks Summary
- Monitors and analyses the political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA’s work and public perception.
- Identifies opportunities for strategic communications interventions and recommends actions to increase UNFPA visibility.
- Guides internal and external communications to inform and engage staff and publics.
- Develops and maintains collaboration with traditional and social media, civil society groups and organizations.
- Drafts, edits, and coordinates articles, press releases, human interest stories, social media content, and video materials.
- Coordinates the establishment and content maintenance of the UNFPA website and social media platforms for Uzbekistan.
- Maintains relationships with programme and communication teams of other UN agencies.
- Assists with communication and visibility support for high-level delegations and visits.
- Oversees the development of advocacy and communication materials.
- Complies with UNFPA and donor’s branding guidelines.
- Leads the implementation of UNFPA Uzbekistan’s programme initiatives for awareness raising and engagement.
- Coordinates and monitors awareness campaigns on challenging harmful social norms and gender stereotypes.
- Builds the capacity of national partners and CSOs in effective communication approaches.
- Undertakes communication research to understand target audiences.
- Advises on developing partnerships with donor communities and development partners for resource mobilization.
- Facilitates programme teams to report on results and increase visibility of UNFPA programme, UN joint programmes, donors and partners.
Experience Requirements
- Prior experience in the field of communication and advocacy on social issues is strongly desired.
- More than two years of experience in the field of communication and advocacy with governments, parliamentarians, CSOs, and donors is an advantage.
- Familiarity with UN procedures and working methods or development of donor-funded projects and familiarity with respective visibility guidelines is an advantage.
- Experience in advocacy and communication material development is an advantage.
- Experience in managing social media accounts is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
Advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations or social/development science field.
