Overview

The Social Norms Change Analyst will contribute to shaping and implementing UNFPA's strategic approach to mainstreaming gender-transformative and human rights-based approaches into programming in Mindanao, with a focus on generating and utilizing evidence to inform decision-makers and policies.

Tasks Summary
  • Supporting the coordination of results-based planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of UNFPA Gender and Social Norms programmes.
  • Providing technical and policy advisory research and analysis on gender equality and women’s human rights.
  • Coordinating the generation, synthesis, and application of evidence to integrate gender-transformative approaches into policies and programs.
  • Supporting the design, adaptation, and expansion of evidence-based interventions and programs.
  • Documenting and synthesizing evidence on social and gender norms change.
  • Contributing to the development and/or implementation of the Partnership, Advocacy and Resource Mobilization Plan.
  • Supporting partnerships with key stakeholders to advance gender-transformative policies and programs.
Experience Requirements
  • Applicants with a master's degree in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience. However, up to two years of relevant work experience in advocacy for gender and social norms change in legislation, public policies and programmes is desirable.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in advocacy for gender and social norms change in legislation, public policies and programmes.
  • Experience providing technical support in the development and/or implementation of gender transformative approaches at the national or sub-national level is desirable.
  • Experience in working on gender-based violence prevention and response in both ‘normal’ and humanitarian settings is an advantage.
  • Prior experience on developing, implementing and monitoring work plans is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in a field of sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women’s studies, public health, public administration, international relations, international development, law or other related fields, with a focus on social and gender norms change.
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor) in a field of sociology, anthropology, social sciences, women’s studies, public health, public administration, international relations, international development, law or other related fields, with a focus on social and gender norms change, with two (2) years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English and Filipino is essential, with ability to write clearly and concisely and to compose correspondence and documents in both languages.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of local language in UNFPA target states and regions, particularly of any of the major local dialects in BARMM, is an asset.
