International Consultant – End Violence Against Children

Overview

International consultant to provide support in the implementation of projects and activities in the End Violence Against Children portfolio.

Tasks Summary
  • Substantive input provided to the development of project proposals, including for fundraising purposes.
  • A range of materials developed – incorporating specialised knowledge on child recruitment and exploitation by terrorist groups and with a focus on national contexts - through which achievements can be disseminated.
  • Monitoring and evaluation for projects coordinated, including compilation of achievements and lessons learned.
  • Substantive knowledge and expertise on child recruitment and exploitation applied to the development of a range of materials in relation to online targeting of children.
  • Substantive and organizational input provided to the establishment of a network for coordination of responses to children associated with terrorist groups.
  • A review of promising practices in engagement of local Iraqi communities conducted to support the reintegration of children and young people.
  • An analysis of relevant funding opportunities (public and private sector) conducted to support mobilization of funds.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in international cooperation and/or development is required.
  • Experience of carrying out research is required.
  • Specialist knowledge on children recruited by armed groups including by terrorist groups is required.
  • Experience in working with the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable.
  • Experience of facilitating United Nations-European Union cooperation is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in international relations or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English and French with excellent drafting and communication skills is required.

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) is an advantage.
