Overview

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme Policy Officer (School Meals and Food Systems) will provide technical support on school meals and food systems, contribute to project design, and support WFP's strategic engagement and partnerships.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide project management support to current WFP projects and activities.
  • Contribute to the design of food systems and nutrition-sensitive social protection projects.
  • Coordinate with WFP programme and engineering colleagues on integrated programming.
  • Support the development of indicators, monitoring tools, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Strengthen the capacity of government stakeholders and WFP staff.
  • Support the school meals teams in designing, reviewing, and producing training materials.
  • Work closely with the Monitoring, Review, and Evaluation (MRE) team to track ongoing projects.
  • Provide support for WFP’s strategic engagement and partnerships with local donor groups.
  • Strengthen partnerships and knowledge networks inside and outside WFP.
  • Support identification, assessment, and negotiation with potential partners.
  • Collaborate with the external relations unit to explore, assess, and document partnership opportunities.
  • Prepare scoping notes, concept notes, funding proposals, and donor briefing documents.
  • Coordinate with other UN agencies.
  • Establish digital/online documentation systems, one-stop repositories, and information-sharing platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of project-specific communication and outreach materials.
  • Compile, document, and disseminate case studies, lessons learned, and evidence.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support day-to-day operations.
Experience Requirements

Minimum of two years relevant working experience in the development sector or relevant field, preferably focusing on food security, School Meals, Public Health, and Nutrition.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree in Public Health, International Development, Education, or any other relevant field. Candidates must hold a Master's degree. Proficiency in Windows MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency (level C) in the English language. Spoken and written knowledge of either Finnish or Swedish.

Languages Preferred: Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese.

Contract Duration: Two years
