Overview
The UNV ROLAC Communications Specialist will provide support in content development, creative campaigns, and digital communications to showcase UN Volunteers' contributions and advance the value of volunteerism.
Tasks Summary
- Develop and deliver results- and evidence-based content.
- Lead regional editorial planning and production for the UNV website.
- Research, curate, develop briefs, and edit UNV narratives.
- Conceptualize and coordinate creative communications campaigns.
- Edit and publish content across digital and in-person channels.
- Implement and manage tools for content submission from Field Units.
- Support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Regional Office communications annual work plan.
- Support the identification of trends and rollout of pilot initiatives.
- Coordinate with relevant specialists and Field Units for timely delivery of communications inputs.
- Coordinate with UN agencies and other stakeholders to publish UNV communication products.
- Support Field Units in preparing media tools and key messages.
- Support the organization and reporting of corporate events.
- Support the management of suppliers and vendors involved in communications activities.
- Advise on the strategic use of social media platforms.
- Support the adaptation, review, and refinement of editorial and multimedia content for social media.
- Ensure the consistent application of UNV branding and content creation standards.
- Review and provide guidance on the correct use of UNV branding and content standards.
- Support colleagues and Field Units by advising on content presentation, tone, structure, and coherence.
Experience Requirements
- Working experience with at least 5 years on citizens’ engagement, support to civil society or volunteerism, in an international environment or national level.
- Experience in communications role, preferably in an international or multicultural setting.
- 3 years of experience in content creation is an asset.
- Understanding of the UN system, its principles, and its operations is often preferred.
- Previous experience in leadership or team management is desirable.
- Familiarity with development issues, volunteerism, and humanitarian efforts is valuable.
- Knowledge and analytical overview of the development realities and challenges in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
- Ability to work in teams from a multidisciplinary and cultural background.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Communications, Public Relations, International Affairs, or a related field.
