Overview

The Coordinator, Internal Threat Unit is responsible for coordinating internal proactive initiatives to increase awareness and mitigate threats to the Organization’s integrity. They assess workplace activities to ensure diligence, effectiveness, and adherence to policies, reporting on activities and maintaining confidentiality.

Tasks Summary
  • Ensure detection and mitigation of ongoing internal threats at operational and tactical levels.
  • Supervise the Internal Threat Unit (ITU) and examine INTERPOL activities to identify threats.
  • Conduct threat assessments and thematic analysis in high-risk areas.
  • Reply to requests for assistance and advice on internal threats.
  • Provide reports and findings on threats with recommended measures.
  • Gather information on high-risk sectors and corruption patterns.
  • Develop early-warning capabilities.
  • Review and help establish guidance and professional standards.
  • Keep the Assistant Director of Internal Affairs appraised of case updates.
  • Manage the registering, coordination, and confidential filing of sensitive information.
  • Liaise with the Coordinator of Internal Investigations and other departments.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders and third parties to resolve issues.
  • Respond to requests in the post-investigative phase.
  • Ensure fair, legal, and professional evidence gathering.
  • Be responsible for operational coordination, case management, and cross-functional alignment of the ITU.
  • Ensure integrity threat identification and response activities are conducted lawfully and ethically.
  • Deliver presentations on internal threats.
  • Establish reporting channels for internal misconduct.
  • Promote contacts with relevant stakeholders.
  • Report on ITU activity and performance.
  • Ensure relevant recommendations and actions are implemented.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality.
  • Keep abreast of latest developments in Internal Threats.
  • Engage with and support the Coordinator of Internal Investigations.
  • Continually assess threats and discipline framework.
  • Ensure the ITU is managed effectively.
  • Attract, hire, and retain a team of high-performing professionals.
  • Train, coach, and manage Investigators and Administrative staff.
  • Oversee the development of the Unit.
  • Participate in budget and resource management discussions.
  • Implement policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required by the hierarchy.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 10 years of professional experience of policing, including investigations and/or intelligence and/or prevention activities in international organizations or national administrations.
  • A prior exposure to intelligence and counter-intelligence functions would be a strong asset.
  • Experience in corruption patterns, networks, and high-risk sectors subjects within the framework of an investigation.
  • Proven knowledge of international investigation standards.
  • Knowledge of ILOAT standards is desirable.
  • Competent negotiator and knowledge of engaging third-party experts.
  • Management and processing of sensitive data in a highly confidential environment.
  • Ability to engage with and manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.
  • Experience in alternative dispute settlement and mediation is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years of completed education in law or a field related to intelligence, investigations or equivalent;
  • An advanced university degree in law or a field related to investigations, compliance, governance, international law or equivalent would be a strong asset.
  • A specialization or experience in Internal Affairs would be a strong asset.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Professional fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of another working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) is an additional asset.
