Overview

Seeking a case handler to work on antitrust cases and horizontal files in the financial services sector, focusing on capital markets, insurance, and banking. The role involves legal and economic assessment of undertakings' conduct to investigate and address potential breaches of EU competition rules.

Tasks Summary
  • Work on antitrust cases and horizontal files in the financial services sector.
  • Conduct legal and economic assessment of the conduct of undertakings.
  • Investigate and address potential breaches of EU competition rules.
  • Interact with parties to the investigation, third parties, and national competition authorities.
  • Cooperate with other European and national supervisory authorities.
  • Collaborate with internal policy, chief economist, and Legal Service teams.
  • Work with other Commission Services.
  • Prepare replies to requests from citizens and Members of the European Parliament.
Experience Requirements
  • Professional experience in applying competition law or competition economics in antitrust cases.
  • Very good understanding of the substantive and procedural issues arising in antitrust cases.
  • Academic background and/or professional experience related to the financial services sector is an additional asset.
Qualification Requirements
  • Completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma.
  • Qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU. • Satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: The duration of the 1st contract will be up to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.

Work Modality: Possibility of teleworking

Remuneration: • Grade range: AD5-7 • Pay consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances. • Pay is subject to a tax raised by the institutions.
