Overview

Contributes to the effective implementation of NRC’s Education and Youth Programme in Misrata, supporting formal and non-formal education, psychosocial support, vocational training, life skills, mentoring, and community engagement.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the design, coordination, and implementation of youth activities including vocational training (TVET), life skills, mentoring, and community engagement.
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of education and PSS activities for both Libyan and non-Libyan children (formal and non-formal education).
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, guidelines, and procedures in all education activities.
  • Coordinate activities in line with programme strategy, proposals, budgets, and work plans.
  • Involve and inform community members and leaders about NRC’s programming.
  • Support the development of detailed implementation plans and ensure timely delivery of activities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support field-based staff, facilitators, and volunteers.
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  • Ensure timely procurement, development, and distribution of materials and tools required for implementation.
  • Collect, maintain, and update programme data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and contribute to donor and internal reporting requirements.
  • Promote and monitor inclusion, gender balance, safeguarding, and protection mainstreaming in all interventions.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to NRC’s Safe and Inclusive Programming (SIP), Safeguarding, and Referral (SIPR) policies.
  • Lead and coordinate activities (TVET, life skills, mentoring sessions), ensuring quality and relevance.
  • Implement PSS and education activities.
  • Develop monthly activity work plan of education program activities and supervision of implementation.
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring, tracking and reporting of education projects in line with work-plans and log-frames.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, provide technical guidance, and ensure compliance with SIPR standards.
  • Prepare volunteers trainings work plans and ensure delivery according to quality standards.
  • Maintain strong coordination with vocational training centres, community schools, local authorities, and partners.
  • Coordinate with Technical Assistants and facilitators to ensure effective delivery and active participation.
  • Ensure activities are designed and implemented following NRC’s Safeguarding, Protection, and SIP Minimum Standards.
  • Identify and safely refer beneficiaries with protection concerns through NRC’s Referral SOP, ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Facilitate SIP and safeguarding awareness sessions for beneficiaries, facilitators, and volunteers.
  • Support visibility of the education programme through documentation of success stories and achievements.
  • Monitor purchase requests as assigned by line manager and ensure proper follow-up with logistics and field teams.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Education Coordinator/Manager.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience working with youth, education, and vocational training projects.
  • Previous experience in complex or volatile contexts.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working directly with Youth.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents through education (PSS) activities.
  • Experience with refugees, IDPs, and host communities.
  • Familiarity with youth livelihood and employability initiatives.
  • Experience in inter-agency coordination and capacity-building.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field.
  • Completion or willingness to complete SIP Basic Training, Safeguarding Essentials, and Referral SOP orientation.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken)

Languages Preferred: • French is an asset
