Overview

The Architect/Engineer will apply professional architectural/engineering knowledge and expertise to manage the space portfolio at UN Headquarters, ensuring space needs are met and occupancy information is accurate. The role involves reporting on space utilization, planning and designing office space, and coordinating construction and reconfiguration projects.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist the Chief of PDCS to manage the space portfolio at HQ.
  • Provide reports on projected space needs, occupancy rates and statistics on space utilization.
  • Maintain data, analyze and prepare reports.
  • Review office space planning, managing the selection of additional premises including the development of cost estimates.
  • Prepare rented space for use based on organizational needs.
  • Plan and design specifications, create standard drawings and layouts for projects.
  • Conduct preliminary site investigations to assess office space needs.
  • Coordinate the design and construction of all internal office reconfiguration and related moves.
  • Liaise with other Departments and serve as a focal point for all office space related requirements.
  • Analyze project proposals to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Anticipate short term and long term space requirements.
  • Assist the Chief of PDCS to manage all PDCS administered lease contracts and service contracts.
  • Implement and keep up-to-date the computerized graphic space database using CAFM.
  • Negotiate space allocations with other offices.
  • Coordinate acquisition, installation and relocation of furniture and equipment.
  • Organize and direct ad-hoc request for movers' services.
  • Assist the Chief of PDCS in managing the Real Estate Portfolio in UMOJA.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in architecture or engineering design with emphasis on interior construction and office space planning is required.
  • Experience in AutoCAD or similar software is required.
  • Experience in a supervisory and project management role is desirable.
  • Experience in SAP ERP (Umoja) Real Estate Module is desirable.
Qualification Requirements

An advanced university degree (Master's degree, or equivalent) in Architecture or Engineering is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
