Overview

The Programme Coordinator will support the implementation of a project focused on improving water and sanitation services, aligning with sustainable development goals. The role involves coordinating project activities, guiding collaboration with partners, and managing monitoring and reporting.

Tasks Summary
  • Coordinate the overall project work plan development and implementation.
  • Gather inputs and coordinate the preparation of work-plans, periodic narrative progress reports and expenditures status reports.
  • Ensure project implementation as per the work plan and with support from project staff.
  • Develop inception report and detailed work plan.
  • Prepare Terms of References and outline a comprehensive scope of services for project outputs.
  • Establish systems for project planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks to projects.
  • Provide information for the systematization and exchange of successful practices and experiences.
  • Ensure that the technical activities are aligned with the quality expectations of the Agency and counterparts.
  • Provide technical support on how to localize and give shape to international agreements and frameworks.
  • Record and maintain documents on relevant project activities, issues, and risks.
  • Coordinate relationships with state and local partners to support the implementation and expansion of the project.
  • Ensure effective and efficient communication with counterparts and local partners.
  • Work closely with relevant governmental departments and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to policy dialogue with partners on matters of urban planning.
  • Identify capacity building needs and support partners through technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity development initiatives.
  • Gather and compile all information necessary for monitoring and reporting.
  • Monitor the implementation of activities and the expenditure of funds.
  • Draft and provide input to annual and quarterly reports.
  • Document implementation process and products.
  • Contribute to the exchange of information and provide inputs to the development of knowledge products.
  • Coordinate the organization of major advocacy campaigns, events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products.
  • Attend meetings and conferences promoted by partners.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities within the incumbent's expertise.
  • Perform other duties which may be requested by the supervisor.
  • Complete all courses and training activities indicated by the supervisor.
  • Get familiarized with United Nations security mechanisms and comply with them.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in designing, reviewing, or implementing projects/programmes related to urban planning, water and sanitation and/or infrastructure in urban communities in Brazil is required.
  • Experience in project management is required.
  • Experience with water and sanitation is required.
  • Previous experience working in the United Nations is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Law, Economics, International Relations or related fields is required.
  • Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Social Sciences, or related fields is required, or additional four (4) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable.

Contract Duration: Six (6) months, with possibility of renewal

Work Modality:

Remuneration: LICA 4 UNOPS Salary Scale.
