Consultant (Gender Safety Audit Workshops)

Overview

The Consultant (Gender Safety Audit Workshops) will plan, coordinate, and implement UN-Habitat's "Woman City" methodology, including participatory gender safety audit workshops with women and girls, to deliver a consolidated urban safety diagnosis with recommendations.

Tasks Summary

• Develop a detailed work plan.
• Adapt the “Woman City” methodology, processes, questionnaires, and materials.
• Develop and provide supporting documents for participatory activities.
• Organize and carry out field trips for participatory activities.
• Organize and facilitate workshops, discussions, and participatory dynamics.
• Maintain an organized file system for collected data.
• Assist in developing a georeferenced database.
• Participate in other key participatory activities and meetings.
• Present findings to local partners for validation.
• Develop urban safety strategies based on CPTED and gender perspectives.
• Integrate gender perspectives throughout the project.
• Ensure continuous communication with UN-Habitat and stakeholders.
• Develop reports following ABNT guidelines.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in participatory urban planning, urban safety, crime prevention, gender-sensitive urban planning, community-based safety initiatives or related fields is required.
• Experience in facilitating participatory processes, stakeholder engagement, and conducting community-based research is required.
• Experience in data collection, qualitative and quantitative research, and the systematization of socio-spatial information is desirable.
• Experience in planning, design, and/or working in informal settlements is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Policy, Urbanism or related fields is required.
• Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Social Science, Urban Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Gender Studies or related fields is required, or additional four (04) years of relevant technical experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
• Additional training or certifications in gender-sensitive urban planning, human rights-based approaches, public safety policies or related fields is desirable.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in Portuguese is required.

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of Spanish and English is desirable.

Contract Duration: Four (4) months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: LICA 3 (part-time 45%)– BRL: 17.500 (Total net amount) UNOPS Salary Scale • Payment 1 [30%]: Upon delivery and approval of Product 1 (BRL: 5.250) • Payment 2 [30%]: Upon delivery and approval of Product 2 (BRL: 5.250) • Payment 3 [40%]: Upon delivery and approval of Product 3 (BRL: 7.000)
