Overview

The Programme Policy Officer (Gender, Protection, and Inclusion Specialist) will support the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe Regional Office (MENAEERO) in mainstreaming Gender, Protection, and Inclusion across programmes, operations, communications, and advocacy.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the implementation of GPI policies and commitments.
  • Provide technical guidance for GPI integration in regional advocacy, Programme strategies and policies.
  • Ensure timely engagement with Country Offices for strategic anchorage of GPI in CSP design.
  • Represent WFP in GPI networks at regional level.
  • Provide GPI technical inputs to regional documents, policies, trainings materials, partnerships.
  • Provide technical support to Country Offices.
  • Ensure appropriate GPI support to programme oversight and quality assurance.
  • Deliver capacity building support to regional teams.
  • Act as regional focal point for GPI-related issues and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with GPI Global HQ team for consistent implementation of GPI policies.
  • Actively engage with GPI coordination forum at regional level and develop strategic partnerships.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate and progressively responsible professional experience leading development projects or humanitarian assistance.
  • 8-10 years of total experience in development projects or humanitarian assistance of which at least 2 years is international field experience.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating GPI concerns in nutrition and food security programming across the nexus.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging at strategic level with cross-functional teams to advance policies and advocacy.
  • Understanding of the social, cultural, political landscapes of the MENAEE region.
  • Experience in emergency settings (desirable).
  • Experience facilitating workshops, delivering training, and conducting capacity-building for field operations on relevant topics is required.
  • Technical guidance with diverse audiences, including country office staff and regional technical units.
Qualification Requirements

• Master’s degree in sociology, gender studies, social work, social sciences, development studies, or related fields and/or a first university degree.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluent (level C) verbal and written English and Arabic is required.

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of French (level B or above) would be advantageous.
