Overview

The National Protection Officer will support the management, coordination, and oversight of the Country Office’s Protection Center and case management for various protection cases.

Tasks Summary
  • Manage operations and case management of the Protection Center and protection cases in the transit center.
  • Support the development and implementation of CO’s Protection programming.
  • Adapt and implement SOPs and internal guidelines for protection case management.
  • Mentor and support staff, conduct training, and ensure capacity building.
  • Support relationship building with UN Agencies, humanitarian organizations, government, and community interlocutors.
  • Coordinate with livelihoods and MHPSS coordinators.
  • Contribute to weekly reports on the management of the Protection Center.
  • Ensure visibility/communications materials in the Protection Center.
  • Ensure adequate CFM are in place and fully operational.
  • Participate in donor or partner meetings, briefings, and conferences.
Experience Requirements
  • Two years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development, Business or Public Administration, International Studies or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant professional experience with a University degree in the above fields.
  • Experience in programme development and capacity-building activities.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with national and international institutions.
  • Experience in organizing consultations, workshops and seminars with high level stakeholders.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development, Business or Public Administration, International Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • University degree in the above fields.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English and French (oral and written).

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of Arabic, and of another UN official language (Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage. • Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Up to 9 months
