Overview

The Site Development Operations Officer (Engineer) will assist in the implementation of Site Development programme activities, including engineering design, construction, and rehabilitation of infrastructure, ensuring contributions to Disaster Risk Reduction and environmental restoration.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist with technical aspects of construction work, including assessment, design, BoQ calculation, work scheduling, tendering, technical specification, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Draft civil designs for site development works, including drainage, hydraulic analysis, road and culvert design, and slope mitigation.
  • Undertake field visits to monitor construction and rehabilitation project sites.
  • Coordinate construction projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
  • Report on project financial, technical, and schedule compliance.
  • Provide guidance on quality control and technical areas to support staff.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of design standards, monitoring mechanisms, and construction specifications.
  • Participate in tender evaluation processes.
  • Provide technical guidance for record keeping, construction inspections, and quality audits.
  • Coordinate installation, repair, and maintenance of solar energy infrastructures.
  • Provide information and documentation for project proposals.
  • Perform management support activities for construction projects with multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree with two years of relevant professional experience; or Bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working with International Organizations and/or NGOs, particularly within the region, is an advantage.
  • Experience in camp rehabilitation, building structural design, and site development is an advantage.
  • Experience with solar energy infrastructures within a humanitarian context is an advantage.
  • Experience in civil design, direct construction supervision, contract administration, surveying, quantity surveying, and leveling.
  • Experience in computer-aided drawing and working with common engineering-related software.
  • Previous experience working in Bangladesh or with the Rohingya Population will be beneficial.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
