Overview
Coordinate and supervise the implementation of WASH activities, provide technical direction, and build the capacity of WASH Officers and community volunteers.
Tasks Summary
- Access, compile and share relevant technical information with program staff and partners.
- Analyze and advise on the adaptation of technical approaches to the local context.
- Establish and maintain contact with other organizations for project improvement and coordination.
- Lead, coordinate and supervise WASH activities in specified districts.
- Capacity build WASH Officers on community engagement and prevention of waterborne diseases.
- Assist in facilitating community accountability and feedback mechanisms.
- Consult with the portfolio manager to steer implementation according to national strategy and policies.
- Conduct technical assessments of WASH Officers' capacity and develop training plans.
- Carry out training support activities for community WASH volunteers.
- Ensure task implementation at output level according to the Plan of Action.
- Provide coaching and training for community water committees and local artisans.
- Promote participation of vulnerable women and provide training in sanitation and hygiene.
- Coordinate hydrological studies and the delivery of water supply systems.
- Prepare appropriate training content and materials.
- Provide guidance on activities to ensure implementation according to work plans, scope of works, and budgets.
- Represent the district program in WASH sector coordination meetings and forums.
- Initiate and maintain dialogue with stakeholders.
- Prepare and store meeting reports.
- Influence the implementation of government policies impacting children's well-being.
Experience Requirements
- At least two years’ hands on experience in working with rural or peri-urban public health or WASH programs.
- Preferably related to community based rural development work at project coordinator or project Manager role preferably in the WASH sector.
- Hands on Experience in Program Management in a rural or peri-urban complex, international organization preferably NGO and humanitarian context.
- Experience in capacity building in sanitation, Hygiene and or public health such as training and mentoring.
- Hands-on Experience in project management cycle, donor reporting and communication.
- Training or experience in conducting Community Let Total Sanitation (CLTS) or rapid rural appraisals.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, and Excel.)
Qualification Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health, Clinical or Public Health, Water Engineering or Social Sciences.
- Registration with national engineering or public health body or related institutions.
