Overview

The Protection Coordinator will support area protection teams and partners with training, coaching, mentoring, and capacity building to implement high-quality protection interventions. The role also involves developing and tailoring technical tools for partner-led implementation.

Tasks Summary
  • Conduct quality benchmark monitoring and facilitate self-assessments for protection interventions.
  • Deliver tailored capacity building support to area teams on referrals, IPA, and case management.
  • Review documentation of protection interventions to identify quality risks and capacity gaps.
  • Contextualize and update Case Management coaching and supervision guidelines and tools.
  • Contribute to cross-sectoral program integration by strengthening linkages between protection case management, GBV, and youth-focused protection programming.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure protection interventions are inclusive and responsive to adolescents and young people.
  • Conduct protection technical capacity assessments of current and prospective partners.
  • Deliver trainings and capacity sharing initiatives to partners on case management, referrals, GBV risk mitigation, and youth-sensitive approaches.
  • Support Protection Managers in conducting follow-up meetings and field visits with partners.
  • Coordinate with other Protection Specialists to identify technical guidance needs for partners.
  • Support partners in the roll-out and use of relevant PIM and MEAL tools and processes.
  • Provide targeted technical support to implementing partners to strengthen GBV integration within protection programming for young people.
  • Participate as a technical member of the Youth Livelihoods Consortia Management Unit (CMU).
  • Support the integration of GBV risk mitigation and response within case management services for adolescents and young people.
  • Strengthen coordination and integration between protection, GBV, child protection, and youth-focused interventions.
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of guidance, tools, and learning products related to integrated protection programming.
  • Lead protection technical working groups to facilitate integration and coordination.
Experience Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in Protection programming within a humanitarian context.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing protection programming in the areas of general Protection, GBV, and MHPSS.
  • Previous proven experience in programs implemented through local partners or in remote management.
  • Proven experience in capacity building and training of national staff and local partners.
  • Experience working in Sudan or similar operating contexts is highly desirable.
Qualification Requirements

• Masters' degree in relevant field

Other Details

Languages Required: • Proficiency in written and spoken English

Languages Preferred: • Arabic is highly desired

Contract Duration: One-year contract with possibility of extension

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Salary and conditions in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for International staff or under terms of employment for National Staff in Sudan. This position is graded at NM.G
