ICAT Mitigation data management expert

Overview

The Mitigation data management expert will work in close coordination with the National ICAT leading coordinator to provide technical input for project deliverables and reports. The role focuses on strengthening information systems for climate transparency and NDC management.

Tasks Summary

• Prepare a background analysis for a technical proposal to enable tracking and reporting of NDC 3.0 and possible additional measures through 2040.
• Coordinate working sessions of a workshop to identify indicators, data, information, and institutional arrangements for monitoring and reporting of PAMs.
• Develop a technical proposal on the data and information required for the monitoring and reporting of each PAM.
• Develop a technical proposal on the required metadata formats for the statistical system, as well as the institutional arrangements for the collection, analysis, archiving, and reporting of the required data and information.
• Present technical proposals at a working meeting with stakeholders and competent authorities, collecting feedback and new inputs.
• Present relevant conclusions and the final proposal, integrating final comments.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with Bachelors degree or minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience with Masters degree.
• More than 5 years of practical experience in climate change topics, specifically in mitigation and MRV systems under the Paris Agreement’s Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF).
• Experience in the formulation and/or tracking of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Reports to the UNFCCC.
• Proven experience in consultancy work.
• General knowledge of PAMs (Policies and Measures), including their formulation, methodologies, calculation systems, and reporting.
