Overview

The consultant will support the Gender Advisor in strengthening institutional capacity and accountability for gender-responsive and inclusive disaster risk reduction. This involves developing practical tools, capacity-building resources, and monitoring frameworks to assist staff, Member States, and civil society in applying Sendai GAP indicators.

Tasks Summary
  • Consolidate lessons learned and support knowledge management related to the implementation of the Sendai GAP.
  • Contribute to analytical work on gender equality and women’s participation and leadership in disaster risk reduction.
  • Review, synthesis, and quality assurance of data, analysis, and knowledge products.
  • Contribute to efforts to strengthen awareness, uptake, and implementation of the Sendai GAP.
  • Provide technical and coordination support to activities related to the WIN DRR network.
  • Support consultations and engagement with WIN DRR finalists and awardees.
  • Contribute to the documentation and dissemination of good practice examples.
  • Support the development of capacity development plan on gender equality and inclusion.
  • Contribute to the development of training, guidance, and learning materials.
  • Support analytical work to inform organizational strategies, policies, and action plans.
  • Provide technical support to UNDRR’s engagement in UN system-wide processes related to gender equality.
  • Contribute to analysis, coordination, and reporting under UN system accountability frameworks.
  • Support reviews of existing strategies and action plans to inform the development of updated gender and disability inclusion strategies.
Experience Requirements

Minimum five years experience in DRR, gender, and/or GEDSI is required. Experience with UN system or similar international organizations in the Asia-Pacific region is desirable. Experience working with UN SWAP reporting and/or implementation of Gender Strategy and Action Plan is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced University degree in international development, disaster risk reduction, environment, gender, or another relevant field is required. A first-level university degree with at least 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
