Overview
Support the communication, visibility, and social media outreach of the Sustainable Mobility Unit’s work, including global programmes, country projects, campaigns, knowledge products, and events.
Tasks Summary
- Provide support on social media dissemination for SMU work, including drafting posts, preparing visuals, scheduling content, monitoring engagement, and tracking basic analytics.
- Manage and support three communication campaigns under the GEF Global Electric Mobility Project, the Unit’s Gender and E-Mobility workstream and the PAAPAM (Pan African Action Plan for Active Mobility) including content planning and coordination.
- Support the development and implementation of the UNEP–FIA Foundation Communications and Advocacy Strategy including communications planning, development of fact sheets and case studies, and coordination of aligned messaging and outreach activities across platforms.
- Support the preparation and drafting of the Unit’s newsletter.
- Support the collection, organisation, and basic visualization of vehicle electrification and sustainable mobility data for use in reports, presentations, and communication materials.
- Contribute to maintaining and updating online knowledge platforms and internal tracking documents.
- Support the development of short video content (e.g. reels, interview clips, event highlights), including basic editing and caption drafting.
- Assist in preparing monthly communications and visibility reports summarizing social media performance, outreach activities, and key engagement metrics.
- Support the layout, formatting, and visual presentation of reports and knowledge products.
- Coordinate with UNEP communications colleagues to ensure alignment with corporate branding, clearance processes, and publication guidelines.
Experience Requirements
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualification Requirements
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
- Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
