Overview

Support the Economic Empowerment Department with workforce development and career development programs. Assist IRC clients in attaining self-sufficiency through employment, including case management, employer outreach, job search, and placement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Workforce Development Team with employment services and case management.
  • Create action plans, identify additional services, and monitor client progress.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with clients to set goals.
  • Assist clients with resume development, cover letters, and interview preparation.
  • Track client meetings and progress in case notes and spreadsheets.
  • Research employment and vocational training opportunities in NJ.
  • Gain an understanding of IRC services for client referrals.
  • Research other direct assistance programs for client referrals.
  • Communicate effectively with clients in person and via telephone.
  • Adhere to IRC policies on confidentiality and client privacy.
  • Work with clients from multiple backgrounds with varying English skills.
Required Experience

Prior experience in the field of workforce development and/or social service work with immigrants and refugees. Prior experience in the field of job development or job readiness programming. Experience working with immigrants or refugees in a social service setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; will consider a college student. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability required.
Languages Preferred
Spanish, French, Arabic, Dari/Farsi, and/or Pashto.
