Overview
The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern collaborates closely with the ICM Team to assist with a variety of client-centered tasks, including evaluating skill and resource gaps for clients and building resiliency and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluating skill and resource gaps for clients.
- Building resiliency and self-sufficiency.
- Leveraging community connections to enhance support for refugee and displaced individuals.
- Acquiring a thorough understanding of the U.S refugee resettlement process and services available to clients resettled by the IRC.
- Developing essential skills in identifying clients' needs, efficiently coordinating medical care, social services support and establishing connections to vital supportive services within the community.
- Conducting wellness assessments at designated intervals post enrollment in the ICM or SCM programs.
- Maintaining comprehensive case file documentation of all direct services rendered.
Required Experience
- Current enrollment at a college or university for Social Work, Psychology, Public Health or a related field, or 1-2 years of experience in any of these fields.
- Previous experience and/or a strong interest in working with refugees and immigrants.
- Alternatives accepted include internships, volunteer work, or related projects.
- Experience with data entry, case management/ case noting software, and maintaining accurate client records.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's or master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.
- No separate certifications or licenses are required, but certifications and licenses in social work, case management, or medical case management preferred.
