Overview
The Climate Change Mitigation and Emissions Analysis Consultant will support the UNEP project team in data collection, stakeholder engagement, technical inputs, and logistical support for the development of baseline emission factors, Marginal Abatement Cost Curves, climate project pipeline, and final dissemination activities in Georgia.
Tasks Summary
- Collect activity data for sector-specific baseline emission factors.
- Support the development of Tier 2 emission factors.
- Contribute inputs to the report on sector-specific baseline emission intensities.
- Identify and engage key national stakeholders through a structured mapping process.
- Assist in collecting technology-specific technical and economic data for Marginal Abatement Cost Curves.
- Support the identification and validation of sector-level mitigation options.
- Contact project developers to map projects aligned with national NDCs.
- Assess how projects can access climate finance, including data collection and contacting stakeholders.
- Engage with project developers regularly.
- Organize meetings, translate communications if needed, and facilitate communication.
- Keep track of project time constraints and provide ad hoc support.
- Support the preparation of awareness and communication materials.
- Plan and organize the final dissemination workshop.
- Prepare a workshop report synthesizing key highlights, themes, participant contributions, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Provide data inputs for sector-specific baseline emission intensities.
- Provide datasets and stakeholder-validated inputs for Marginal Abatement Cost Curves.
- Gather data under Output 3, including stakeholder input.
- Support communication and logistics, including organizing meetings, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and providing translation as needed.
- Support the organization of the dissemination workshop and provide a detailed workshop report.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience with Bachelors degree or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with Masters degree.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in climate policy, mitigation impact assessments, or other related field.
- Experience in preparation of GHG emissions inventories and/or emissions modelling/projections.
- Experience organizing and facilitating consultations with government agencies, private sector, NGOs, and civil society.
- Familiarity with the context and institutions of Georgia.
- Experience with climate finance and/or project funding (desirable).
- Experience in organizing workshops and/or similar events is an asset.
Qualification Requirements
A master’s degree or equivalent, in environmental engineering, environmental science, climate change, energy systems, sustainable development, engineering, or a related field.
