Overview

The incumbent will be responsible for the direct local implementation of a project in the Seychelles aimed at strengthening the management of abandoned, lost or otherwise discarded fishing gear for cleaner oceans.

Tasks Summary
  • Serve as main focal point for project matters in the Seychelles;
  • Identify national stakeholders;
  • Ensure coordination and discussion with government counterparts and stakeholders;
  • Support the Project Coordinator to prepare a detailed work plan and budget;
  • Support the project team in the preparation and management of contracts and terms of reference;
  • Support the preparation, processing, monitoring and closure of Letters of Agreement (LoAs);
  • Organise and run field visits, meetings, training and capacity development activities;
  • Prepare regular reports on project activity implementation;
  • Participate in project meetings;
  • Support the dissemination of project results;
  • Prepare relevant communication write-ups.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in project management assistance and fisheries development;
  • Experience in working in developing countries;
  • Experience in preparation and management of UN projects and processes, preferably with the FAO;
  • Capacity and demonstrated experience in working and establishing working relationships with government and non-government representatives;
  • Extent of relevant experience (project management, waste management, fisheries development).
Qualification Requirements
  • University degree in marine ecosystem management, (plastic/solid) waste management or in a field relevant to fisheries development;
  • Relevance of academic qualification.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Working knowledge of English

Languages Preferred: • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and French

Contract Duration: Six months (with extension)
