Overview
The Senior IT Assistant will assist the office in implementing IT standards and maintain ICT equipment. The incumbent may play a supervisory role in overlooking day-to-day activities of Telecom Operators.
Tasks Summary
- - Assist in implementing set standards for applications.
- - Monitor and maintain LAN, Network Servers, Routers, Printers, Switches, Access points, HF and VHF bases, Satellite Modem.
- - Carry out missions for new installations and routine maintenance of ICT equipment.
- - Ensure ICT problem recovery and make regular system back-ups.
- - Assist with software package installation and basic repair/maintenance of computer hardware, HF and VHF equipment.
- - Train UNHCR staff on email system, VHF handhelds, telephone system.
- - Add and remove users from Networks.
- - Maintain inventory of ICT equipment and track movements.
- - Draft mails and memoranda on ICT matters.
- - Assist in drafting technical documentation on radio equipment operating procedures.
- - Certify invoices and delivery notes.
- - Evaluate needs for upgrading/replacing ICT equipment.
- - Select efficient and economic means for message transmission.
- - Carry out administrative duties.
- - Decide on appropriate resolution to incidents.
- - Escalate incidents that cannot be resolved at office level.
- - Support identification and management of risks.
- - Perform other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
- 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Relevant experience in the ICT field.
- Hands-on experience with wireless and VoIP systems, electricity, generators, lightning protection an asset.
Qualification Requirements
• Telecommunication Information Technology certificates and/or licenses.
