Overview

Secretary position to assist the Chief Technology Officer and Unit CTO.1 within the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission. The role involves ensuring smooth administrative operations and communication.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Efficiently manage the Director’s diary and schedule.
  • - Screen and prioritize incoming telephone calls and correspondence.
  • - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to arrange meetings and prepare documentation.
  • - Manage office supplies and make travel arrangements.
  • - Assist with HR recruitment processes and personnel administration for the unit.
  • - Ensure follow-ups to keep up deadlines for any briefing or other submissions.
  • - Support logistical arrangements for European Competition Network working groups, training sessions or other meetings.
  • - Act as a back-up to other administrative personnel in budgetary and financial matters.
Required Experience
  • Candidates should have prior experience in administrative roles.
  • Experience assisting in a high-level management setting would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with Commission ICT tools as well as a solid understanding of administrative, financial, and personnel procedures, would be an advantage.
Qualifications
  • A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, OR
  • A level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.
Other Details
Languages Required
• A thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU. • A satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of French could be an advantage.
Contract Duration
The duration of the 1st contract will be up to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.

Remuneration
The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
