Overview
Provide technical leadership and oversight for Child Protection (CP) programming, ensuring interventions are technically sound and meet the needs of children, adolescents, and caregivers. Responsible for programmatic resource mobilization and advocacy related to CP programming.
Tasks Summary
- Jointly develop new concept notes and proposals.
- Participate in Project Cycle Meetings for technical oversight.
- Ensure implementation teams are oriented on project design.
- Develop and implement capacity building plans for CP.
- Lead budget development, monitoring, and management for the CP program.
- Lead strategic engagement with implementing partners.
- Provide strategic oversight of budget planning, monitoring, and forecasting.
- Ensure strong financial controls and compliance.
- Lead on and provide technical oversight, advice, and guidance on all aspects of CP programming.
- Ensure ethical and sound data collection and information management systems.
- Ensure collaboration and communication with other units for integrated programming.
- Contribute to the review of child protection strategy.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall country program strategic direction.
- Undertake assessment of external context to inform strategy and program.
- Contribute to proposal development activities.
- Contribute to and sign MoU with strategic partners.
- Participate in partnership assessment processes.
- Participate in coordination meetings and working groups.
- Build working alliances with other actors for CP advocacy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors, government actors, UN agencies, and NGOs.
- Establish and develop partnerships with national entities working for child rights.
- Ensure IRC’s contribution in coordination forums at local level.
- Monitor and assess the safety and security of field teams.
- Take on other assigned duties.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7 to 8 or more years of experience in Child Protection.
- Experience in directly supporting child survivors of violence.
- Previous experience in emergency preparedness and response as well as development context.
- Demonstrated coordination, networking and relationship building skills with key partners including government, donors, INGOs, national and local organizations, UN agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully leading, building, and strengthening a programming team of 60+ staff in a dynamic, challenging and changing context.
- Proven experience in supervising, mentoring, and building capacity of national staff.
- Strong experience, knowledge and skills in participatory methods and community development.
- Proven skill of writing donor and assessment/situation report.
Qualification Requirements
• Master’s degree in Child Rights/ Gender Studies/ Social Work/Welfare, Social Science/ Human Rights/ Education/ Public Health/Development Studies or other relevant field or the equivalent in professional work.
