Overview
The Assistant Field Coordinator will support the implementation of the Second Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP2) by enhancing partnerships, institutional capacity, infrastructure and basic services provision, and project delivery through field reporting.
Tasks Summary
- Provide technical assistance to county government, municipal board, and partners.
- Support field coordination, technical and logistical planning, and execution of field activities.
- Coordinate and report on field activities.
- Assist with administration of field office operations.
- Provide technical support for training and capacity building activities.
- Support the identification, planning, design, and implementation of projects.
- Technical support for the design and development of inclusive municipal governance systems.
- Support preparation of concept notes and work plans for field activities.
- Support monitoring and regular reporting on ongoing activities.
- Prepare and execute advisories on stakeholder analysis and engagement.
- Provide technical inputs to stakeholders and interventions mapping and analysis.
- Technical support to the project’s TA tasks for background preparations and review of documentary material.
- Support coordination and reporting on the project’s training and advisory workshops/meetings.
- Represent the project in relevant field activities/events.
- Execute tasks assigned by project managers.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience with a verifiable portfolio in providing technical support to infrastructure and basic services delivery projects, urban planning and development, urban management, and community-based development or programming in the context of Humanitarian-Development Nexus or related experience is required.
- Proven experience in research and technical writing is required.
- Proven ability to work in multi-agency settings is desirable.
- Experience with the public sector (local governments) work is desirable.
- Experience working in hardship environments is desirable.
- A relevant professional accreditation is highly desirable.
- Work experience within the United Nations System or similar organization is desirable.
- Work experience in humanitarian-development programming is highly desirable, especially in the Horn of Africa region’s refugee management context.
Qualification Requirements
An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in architecture, urban/town planning, environmental planning, urban management/human settlements management, civil engineering/infrastructure, development studies, land surveying/management, urban/land economy, economics or related areas is required. A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
