Overview

The incumbent is responsible for developing policies and providing subject matter expertise on life cycle management for armament systems within the Alliance and with Partners. The role involves leading policy development and coherence efforts within specific groups addressing armaments life cycle aspects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the implementation of the annual programme of work of the LCMG.
  • Lead teams supporting standards development, adoption and coherence efforts.
  • Manage practical, administrative and logistic aspects efficiently.
  • Contribute to the planning and organisation of the NATO Life Cycle Conference.
  • Assist the Chair of the LCMG with the preparation of different documents resulting from meetings.
  • Contribute to the timely execution of policy directives issued by the committee.
  • Periodically review extant documents for currency and relevance, initiating corrective action when appropriate.
  • Keep a close liaison with the GNDC Secretariat.
  • Support the Chair of the LCMG and GNDC in activities related to their participation in CNAD.
  • Provide expert advice, support and recommendations in the formulation of LCMG cooperation and life cycle management.
  • Coordinate with different stakeholders in life cycle management related policy development.
  • Keep abreast of current techniques and developments in the field of armament systems and life cycle management practices.
  • Promote co-operation amongst nations in the field of life cycle management.
  • Monitor the activities of other groups involved in related fields and liaise with them on a regular basis.
  • Serve as Co-ordinating Officer of the LCMG and GNDC.
  • Participate in meetings and, when necessary, act as Chair, Coordinating Officer, or Secretary of Committees and Working Groups.
  • Represent D2IA as required.
  • Perform any other related duty as assigned.
Required Experience
  • at least 5 years of relevant recent experience;
  • possess a broad knowledge of life cycle management of complex systems;
  • have a strong background in development, procurement and sustainment of complex systems;
  • programme management experience in an international environment (advantage)
Qualifications
  • have a university degree in a field relevant to the role;
  • professional certification or training in Project Management (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) (advantage)

• possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): VI (“Proficiency”) in one; II (“Elementary”) in the other.
