Overview
The consultant will conduct a strategic review of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics' Science Statistics programme and provide recommendations for a new strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce a comprehensive report presenting research findings and recommendations for a new UIS Science Statistics Strategy.
- Review the UIS Medium Term Strategy 2022-2029.
- Review the UIS Science Statistics Programme from 2001-2024.
- Review current UNESCO Science Sector Programme priorities and statistical activities.
- Review G7 and G20 science-related documents and declarations.
- Consider ongoing UN post-2030 discussions and outcomes in relation to science statistics.
- Conduct in-depth consultations with the UNESCO Science Sector Executive Office and Division Chiefs.
- Provide an overview of science statistics activities in selected international and regional organizations.
- Consult with selected key stakeholders.
- Identify potential partnerships and synergies at international and regional levels.
Required Experience
At least 7-10 years working experience in science statistics and/or research and/or policy development. Direct experience managing or implementing science programmes is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master or PhD degree or equivalent) in quantitative disciplines (e.g. statistics, economics, social sciences,) and preferably in a science discipline.
