Overview
The Senior Public Health Associate will support health and nutrition programs in planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination. The role aims to ensure UNHCR's health and nutrition programs meet minimum standards and are implemented in line with guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- - Assist in supervising the implementation of public health and nutrition projects.
- - Participate in identifying priority health/nutrition issues and data requirements.
- - Follow up on the implementation and monitoring of public health projects, including nutrition interventions.
- - Engage in joint monitoring visits with partners and produce reports.
- - Report weekly on project implementation progress, challenges, and gaps.
- - Participate in public health strategic platforms and coordination meetings.
- - Co-chair PISIS/Nutrition coordination meetings when the Associate Public Health Officer is absent.
- - Assist in implementing and revising local UNHCR Public Health and nutrition strategies.
- - Work closely with stakeholders engaged in health/nutrition sectors.
- - Provide technical advice to other UNHCR colleagues.
- - Participate in disseminating health and nutrition information materials.
- - Mobilize the refugee community to address health/nutrition needs.
- - Participate in participatory assessments, nutrition surveys, and joint assessments.
- - Assist in planning, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of nutritional and health surveys.
- - Liaise with SRRP appealing agencies for health/nutrition to update funding trackers and report on progress.
- - Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience
- - Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in managing community-based public health interventions, programs, or projects.
- - Knowledge of public health, reproductive health, MHPSS and nutrition in humanitarian contexts.
- - Exposure to UNHCR mandate, its priorities and principles.
- - Good communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- - Experience in refugee operations or other humanitarian interventions will be a great asset.
- - Understanding of the linkages between public health, nutrition, MHPSS and Food security (desirable).
- - Ability to coordinate a range of diverse actors and activities to achieve a common objective in the area of Public Health (desirable).
Qualifications
- Essential: Public health related studies (medical studies, Psychology, Human Nutrition) With high school diploma, Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Desirable: Health data collection, health project management, heath information systems and related technology.
