Overview

The Logistics Specialist will support the implementation of the ADEPT Project in selected countries by improving systems for faster importation and clearance of health products, vaccines, and other commodities, and streamlining in-country logistics activities.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide in-country information and relevant contacts during initial project validation.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to obtain and maintain support for projects.
  • Provide data needed to measure baseline and project impact.
  • Participate in project governance as appropriate.
  • Convene in-country working groups overseeing project implementation.
  • Establish in-country working groups and participate in public-private working groups.
  • Convene workshops to coordinate streamlining of country importation processes and advocate for a single window.
  • Enhance understanding of country-specific importation processes and customs clearance requirements.
  • Clarify government financial disbursement mechanisms and their impact on importation processes.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify sustainable financial resources for import costs.
  • Raise awareness of stakeholders on the benefits of digitalization of importation processes.
  • Support streamlining and standardization of in-country logistics processes.
  • Assess, map, and review end-to-end in-country logistics and customs clearance processes.
  • Design, implement, and maintain monitoring tools, dashboards, and shipment trackers.
  • Define, operationalize, and monitor logistics performance indicators.
  • Provide inputs to ADEPT reporting by consolidating logistics performance data.
Experience Requirements

5 years of relevant work experience managing in-country logistics operations, with emphasis on LMIS with UNICEF or another humanitarian organization in the same field of activity. Humanitarian experience. Experience emergency/development desirable. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Qualification Requirements

Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in management information systems, logistics, supply chain or any other relevant field.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Contract Duration: 364 days

Work Modality: 50% international travel
