Overview
The UNIDO Representative leads the Sub-Regional Office in Cameroon, representing UNIDO and promoting its mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development. The role involves engaging with stakeholders, identifying development priorities, and overseeing the formulation and implementation of technical cooperation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent UNIDO at the country/regional level and maintain close relations with stakeholders and development partners.
- Identify and assess local needs and donor priorities for resource mobilization and partnership development.
- Ensure alignment of UNIDO initiatives with national strategies, development plans, donor priorities, and UNSDCFs.
- Work closely with the UNRC and UNCT to integrate ISID into the UNDS.
- Monitor and analyze industrial performance of countries/region of coverage.
- Contribute to, support, and/or lead the development and implementation of UNIDO’s regional/country grouping strategies.
- Promote, contribute to, and/or lead the implementation of projects/programmes.
- Carry out selected technical cooperation activities.
- Monitor UNIDO’s activities and share lessons learned.
- Prepare and submit annual business plans and annual reports.
- Manage the financial and human resources of the Field Office.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 13 years of relevant professional experience with a first-level university degree.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience with an advanced university degree.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience with a Doctorate.
- Progressively responsible professional experience, including international levels, in economic development involving technical cooperation at a senior level.
- Experience in evaluating the needs, conditions, and problems of developing countries.
- Experience in supervising/managing technical and non-technical teams in aspects of the project cycle.
- Experience in representational functions (outside own country).
- Experience in the UN system.
- Experience in working with intergovernmental bodies, leading with results on strategic partnerships, resource mobilization is desirable.
Qualifications
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in economics, business administration, international relations, public administration, or other relevant field with specialization in development economics is required.
- An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) or Doctorate in the same fields are accepted.
