Overview

Leads the design and execution of strategic procurement strategies for life-saving supplies in nutrition and child development. Supports UNICEF’s agenda on child nutrition, education, and food systems transformation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Leads a multidisciplinary team to develop and execute adaptable, cost-effective procurement strategies.
  • Sets the Centre’s strategic direction, goals, and workplans, and monitors performance.
  • Leads strategic procurement planning for nutrition and child development supplies.
  • Ensures consistent access to essential supplies in support of UNICEF’s Strategic Plan and emergency response.
  • Leads Centre’s coordination with emergency and inventory stakeholders.
  • Oversees forecasting and procurement strategies to ensure sustainable access to essential nutrition and child development supplies.
  • Designs and implements procurement strategies in collaboration with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Advances nutrition outcomes by fostering local production and driving innovation.
  • Ensures procurement is conducted in compliance with UN Financial Rules and Regulations and Divisional Procedures.
  • Advises country programmes and HQ divisions on supply strategies for health and nutrition.
  • Represents UNICEF at major meetings and conferences relating to access to nutrition and child development supplies.
  • Leads and supports the centre team to operate as a modern, agile, diverse, and connected supply community.
  • Participates as member of SD management team and ensures close working relationships with other Centre Chiefs.
Required Experience

At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible managerial experience in complex and large health product procurement operations involving planning, organizing, strategic procurement and senior advisory support.

Qualifications

Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Medical Sciences, Business, Management, Public Health, Health, Nutrition, Procurement, Supply Chain Management and any other related fields. A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. This is applicable to internal (FT, Continuing and Permanent) staff only.
